Mindful Yoga & Meditation for Stress Mastery

Whether you are new to yoga and meditation, returning to it, or want to enhance an ongoing practice, each class will be an essential companion on your journey. Experience yoga and meditation as tools for awakening the creative, life-affirming potential within you. Discover the health benefits of yoga by exploring methods for promoting skeletal alignment, balancing the nervous system, strengthening cardiovascular and respiratory functions, and improving digestion and elimination. You will be encouraged to listen deeply inside to your own authentic way of moving, breathing, and living as a way of cultivating life’s deepest experience of vitality, ease, and grace.

LEVEL 1 CLASSES: For beginners and continuing beginners

Gentle classes that explore lying down yoga postures, in addition to breathing and meditation. Designed for those with special concerns and injuries as well as those who wish to move at a slower pace.

FRIDAYS 11:30 am – 12:30 pm

MIXED LEVEL CLASS: For strong beginners and more experienced yoga students

Moderately paced classes ideal for those in good health who enjoy invigorating yoga postures as a way of moving into mind/body stillness. Classes are designed to expand the current limits of your yoga and meditation practice.

MONDAYS 6:00 – 7:15 pm
FRIDAYS 9:15 – 10:15 am

Instructor: Karen Sothers, MEd, E-RYT, is the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction program instructor for the Scripps Center for Integrative Medicine. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Life Sciences from Kansas State University and a Masters of Education in Health and Exercise Science from Vanderbilt University. She is an Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher (E-RYT) with an extensive background in yoga postures, mindfulness meditation, guided imagery and deep relaxation. With over 20 years of teaching experience, Karen has a life-long passion for helping people integrate resiliency, mindfulness and vitality into daily living.
