After your payment is received, you’ll receive the MBSR Registration Form by email. Once you submit it, Karen will email you two guided meditation gifts (10 minutes each) so you can begin your practice right away!

MBSR Online 8-Week Program – Terms and Conditions (“Terms”)

Before submitting your payment, you will be asked to read and agree to comply with the following Terms:

Participant Responsibility

The MBSR 8-Week Program is an educational and experiential training in mindfulness, meditation, gentle yoga, walking meditation, and other mindful movements. You will be guided to engage in these practices in a way that is appropriate to your abilities and are encouraged never to push beyond your comfort or capability.

If you experience pain or discomfort, you agree to listen to your body, stop the activity, and, if needed, request support from the instructor, Karen Sothers. Participation is voluntary. You agree not to hold Karen Sothers, or any other MBSR instructor, liable for any injury or harm. You assume full responsibility for your experience both during live sessions and in your personal practice between sessions.

Medical Disclaimer

This program is not a substitute for medical care, examination, diagnosis, treatment, or psychotherapy. If you are under the care of a physician, psychiatrist, or psychotherapist, you confirm that you have consulted them about your participation and received their approval.

Assumption of Risk & Liability Release

By enrolling, you assume all risks related to your physical and mental health from participation. Completing your payment and checking the agreement box confirms a complete and unconditional release of all liability to the fullest extent permitted by law in the State of California.

Intellectual Property

All program materials (including audio, video, manuals, handouts, and slides) are copyrighted by Karen Sothers. They are provided for your personal use only and may not be copied, reproduced, shared, or distributed in any form.

Refund Policy

  • All payments are final.
  • No refunds, credits, exchanges, or cancellations are available for any reason.
  • Payment confirms your acceptance of these Terms.

Attendance & Access to Materials

  • If you miss a live session, recordings and materials for the session will be available in the MBSR Online Resource Library for you to experience.

  • If you cannot attend live at all, you may complete the program at your own pace within six months through:

    • Video and audio recordings of all sessions, including the Day of Mindfulness retreat

    • Access to the comprehensive program manual and other materials

    • Weekly “Mindfulness Encouraging Words” emails

    • Two 30-minute one-on-one phone sessions with Karen
